PMRS-201 Overview

PMRS-201 is an advanced, professional, wireless multimedia streaming & recording device which broadcasts live high quality 2 video channels, two way audio and GPS/GLONASS Location. The PMRS device broadcasts through the cellular networks (3G/4G networks) and/or through WiFi. The unit can be monitored and controlled from any location using the MRS software suite, via PCs/ laptops/ smart phones/ tablets.

The PMRS-201 Unit is small in form (5 x 10 x 2.8 cm), portable, and comes in a plastic, metal or IP65 case. The device is designed for law enforcement applications: police and firefighting vehicles and security. It is also an ideal solution for mobile vehicles and personal assets.

PMRS-201 is optimized for wireless cellular networks and provides stable video streaming at the highest available quality, without visible performance lag (low latency). The unit is energy efficient (5V-15V) has a built-in rechargeable 4200mAh lithium battery.

PMRS-201 Design

PMRS-201 Features

Portable system

The PMRS-201 unit is a handheld wearable solution (5 x 10 x 2.8 cm), and is designed and optimised for wireless cellular networks (3G/ 4G).

2 x Video Channel

The unit features 2 x RCA video input channels. Any Analogue PAL/NTSC camera can be connected to the unit for live video streaming.

Two way audio

PMRS-201 supports two way VOIP (Audio In/Out streaming), which allows voice communication between the unit and any connected PC/ Laptop/ Smart phone. The unit has a built-in microphone and speaker, however external audio peripherals can be attached to the unit as well.

GPS Tracking

The MRS system provides GPS and GLONASS location services. The system features a variety of location functions such as: Live GPS tracking/ map recording/ GPS alarms/ speed tracking/ satellite and coordinates information.

Video Compression

The system uses a high performance DSP based video CODEC (H.264/ .FLV), allowing you to stream live video at the highest attainable quality over wireless mobile networks (low latency).

Dual Video Encoders

PMRS-201 has dual video encoders which allows the unit to live stream and record video at separate bit rates and frame rates. This feature can help with reducing mobile data consumption.

Built-in Cellular Module

The unit has a built-in cellular module (LTE/ HSPA+/HSPA/ EDGE/ GPRS) which supports most cellular service providers around the world. The unit only requires a SIM card to operate.

Recording

The unit's live video/ audio/ GPS streams can be recorded inside the unit on a Micro SD card, remotely on the server, or from any location globally using MRS monitoring clients (PC's, Laptops, smart phones) via the Internet.

Visual Motion Detection

The PMRS-201 has built-in Visual Motion Detection (VMD), which can be activated on any camera connected to the unit and can be set to trigger a variety of actions, such as video streaming, recording and SMS messages.

GPIO

The PMRS-201 has 6 built-in GPIO ports (4 Input Sensors/ 2 Output Switches) for external peripheral devices. The device has a built-in accelerometer sensor and a 12V trigger for automatic activation. The GPIO ports can be set to trigger a variety of actions such as: video streaming, recording and others.

PTZ Control

The PMRS-201 has built-in RS-485 ports (T+/ T-) which support PTZ cameras using Pelco D and Visca protocols. The system allows you to control the Pan, Tilt and Zoom functions of the supported PTZ camera, live from any location.

SMS

The unit can send SMS alerts to any number of mobile phones, as a result of various alarms being triggered such as: VMD and GPIO/ Alarm Button. Supported mobile phones can also receive images of the video stream.

Automatic Bandwidth Control

The unit features automatic bandwidth control, which will automatically decrease the bit rate and frame rate of the video channel (if they're set too high), to adapt according to the mobile network bandwidth.

Alarm Button

The unit has a built-in alarm-button which can be pressed by personnel in the case of an event or emergency. The Alarm Button can be set to trigger a variety of actions such as: video streaming, recording and sending an SMS message.

Storage

The PMRS-201 has a Micro SD slot for on-board device video/audio recording. The unit also includes built-in memory storage of 128MB.

Power Sources

The unit has a built-in 4000mAh rechargeable lithium battery. PMRS-201 also supports external power banks and solar power.

Encryption Capabilities

The PMRS system supports secure data transfer encryption between the unit, server and any clients in the network. Recorded files can be encrypted as well.

Low Power

PMRS-201 uses low power and has a 5V-15V DC power input for charging. The PMRS-201 also supports sleep mode and modem-offline mode.

LAN

The PMRS unit has a built-in LAN interface for streaming live media via any local area network to any location. An Ethernet cable is included with the unit.

Bluetooth

PMRS-201 has built-in Bluetooth interface for configuration.

Accelerometer

PMRS-201 has a built-in accelerometer sensor. The accelerometer can wake up the device from off mode or from sleep mode.

System Architecture

The MRS system has 2 major architectures:

  • Option 1: Server Based Architecture (recommended):
  • This architecture is based on a server with a fixed IP address. Multiple units can communicate with the server as well as multiple clients. All clients are connected to the server only and have viewing and control capabilities.

  • Option 2: Device based Architecture:
  • In this configuration, the device transmits a signal from the unit directly to the client. This architecture is only recommended if a server is not available.

Below is a diagram of Server Based Architecture:
